New You!

We have all heard the saying "you are what you eat."  This statement could not be more true.  Not only does certain foods effect our bodies it also effects our skin.  As quoted in the award winning book Skinny Bitch "you can't keep eating the same shit and expect to get skinny."  What you put in your body and on your body effects your body, skin and mind.
Skin Foods
  • Vitamin A is  essential for healthy skin.  Low fat yogurt is on the best places you can find Vitamin A in.  Low fat yogurt also contains acidophilus, which is the live bacteria that is good for your internal health.
  • Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and plums are the best fruits for your skin and body. They have the highest level of antioxidants in them then any other fruit.  The antioxidants help your skin from sun damage.  We all want our skin looking young and youthful for a long time.
  • Other fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants include artichokes, beans, prunes and pecans.
  • Salmon, Walnuts, Canola Oil and Flax Seed Oil all contain healthy oil; which helps keep the skin lubricated and keeps it looking and feeling healthier overall.
  • Whole wheat bread, muffins, and cereals; turkey, tuna and nuts all have mineral selenium which plays a key role in healthy skin cells.
  • Green Tea is simply a natural miracle beverage.  Whether you take green tea orally or put it directly on the skin; it can reduce the risk of damage from ultraviolet light.
  • WATER is probably the most important thing for your skin.  Think of your skin as a flower; you need to keep it hydrated or else it will dry up, get ugly and die.  Get your 8 glasses a day!  Buy a water bottle that has 32 fl. oz of water.  You will only need to drink the whole water bottle twice a day.
Remember to love your skin and it will love you back!

Conceal it!

Want clear sparkling skin? Do a great cover-up job and your worst sins will never show up on your face. Concealer can be a girls best friend for blemishes, under eye bags, zits and veins!

Always remember these concealer tips!

• Don't expect one concealer to cover everything.

• A concealer for the eye area needs a creamier, more moisturising consistency that moves with your skin so it won't dry out and enhance fine lines even more.  A concealer for spots and blemishes need a drier product that stays in place and ideally has anti-bacterial properties.

PERFECTING UNDER-EYE COVER

•
Take time to find the right colour for your skin. It's a common misconception that if you have dark circles you need to use a really pale colour to compensate.  Too light can emphasise the area you're trying to hide, and end up making skin look grey and ashen instead. Light-reflective concealers that lighten dark circles by reflecting the light are great, as long as you don't overdo it.

•
The best way to apply concealer under and around the eyes is with a very fine brush or a clean cotton bud, then blend it on to the skin by dabbing it into place with a clean finger. Remember, you're trying to conceal something, so you need to leave a fine layer of the product on your skin but only put it where you need it.

•
Pat don't rub or you'll need to add more and more until it starts to look heavy and caked, which only emphasises fine lines and wrinkles.

MAKE SPOTS AND BLEMISHES DISAPPEAR

•
If you wear foundation, always apply concealer over spots and blemishes afterwards, not before. Too much make-up on the skin is ageing, and this way you only use what you need and so use a lot less.

•
If you don't wear foundation, you will get a more flawless, but natural-looking finish if you use a tiny bit of concealer on a brush, just to paint out minor blemishes or marks.

•
If a spot or blemish is red  add a tiny bit of green concealer first to take down the redness but not too much or else it will look grey. Dab a small bit of covering concealer on top, then dust over a little translucent powder.

•
Less is more Often too much concealer on a spot may make it look even worse than nothing at all.  Put makeup on in a room where natural light shines through.
